Introduction to Dynasty War
This game mixes side-scrolling action and light strategy. You pick a general from Liu Bei’s army. Generals ride horses across battlefields. They slash through enemy troops with swords and axes. Special moves and power-ups boost damage or grant brief invincibility. Two players team up on the same screen.
Battles replay moments from China’s Three Kingdoms era. Liu Bei and his allies clash with rival warlords for control of the land. A map lets players choose cities to attack next. Different paths unlock unique stages and alternate endings. Digitized voices and sound effects heighten the drama. Each general brings a unique fighting style and special attack.
Capcom released this arcade hit in 1988. In Japan it carried the name Tenchi wo Kurau. It later joined various arcade collections and emulated compilations. A sequel expanded the cast and added new mechanics. This legacy inspired games set in the same turbulent era.
