Dogfight Aces delivers arcade style aerial combat in World War I. Players pilot biplanes and triplanes in fast dogfights. They aim to shoot enemy planes, bomb ground targets, escort friendly aircraft and perform reconnaissance. The controls use an analog stick for turning and buttons for firing machine guns and executing special actions. Physics favor action over realistic flight.
Story unfolds through a series of historical missions. A fictional pilot rises through the ranks in key battles. Campaign mode sends this ace across different war fronts. Each sortie drops players into trenches and skies without deep character drama. The narrative simply guides progression from one mission to the next.
Players choose from famous World War I fighters such as the Sopwith Camel, Fokker Dr I and SPAD S XIII. A point system gives access to higher speed. It expands turning ability. It equips planes with stronger guns. Custom paint schemes appear after key wins. Instant Action mode delivers quick skirmishes. Local multiplayer links up to eight players in head to head duels. AI wingmen fly alongside on certain sorties. Progress unlocks new aircraft, pilots and battlefields.
