Greater Than Sudoku – Solve a Number Puzzle with Greater and Smaller Signs

Greater Than Sudoku is a number puzzle game that adds a special challenge to traditional Sudoku. You must fill a large square grid with numbers from 1 to 9, but there is an extra rule. The numbers must also follow the greater-than and less-than signs placed between the squares.

These signs help you understand which number should be bigger and which should be smaller.

The game requires careful thinking because every number must fit the ordinary Sudoku rules and the special comparison signs.

Understand the Sudoku Board

The board contains 81 squares arranged in nine rows and nine columns.

Thick lines divide the board into nine smaller groups. Each group contains nine squares arranged in a 3×3 pattern.

Your task is to fill the empty spaces with numbers from 1 to 9.

Every row must contain each number exactly once. The same rule applies to every column and every smaller group.

Some numbers already appear on the board when the puzzle begins. These provide clues that help you find the missing numbers.

Follow the Greater Than and Less Than Signs

Greater Than Sudoku includes pink comparison signs between neighboring squares.

A greater-than sign means the number on its open side must be larger.

For example, 8 > 4 means eight is greater than four.

A less-than sign shows the opposite relationship. For example, 3 < 7 means three is smaller than seven.

You will also see signs pointing upward or downward between vertically connected squares.

These work in the same way. The wide opening faces the larger number, while the pointed end faces the smaller number.

Every number you enter must follow these signs.

Choose Numbers from the Pink Buttons

The game provides large pink number buttons from 1 to 9.

Use your mouse to select the number you want to place.

Next, click the empty square where the number belongs.

An X button also appears with the number choices. You can use it to remove an entry when you need to correct a mistake.

Take time to check the surrounding numbers before filling another space.

The simple mouse controls allow you to concentrate on solving the puzzle.

Find the Most Helpful Clues First

Look for squares connected to several comparison signs.

These can give you useful information about possible answers.

For example, a square that must contain a number smaller than several neighboring numbers may be a good place to investigate the smaller digits.

The numbers 1 and 9 are especially useful when solving these puzzles.

One is the smallest possible number, while nine is the largest.

Combine these clues with the ordinary Sudoku rules to narrow down your choices.

Complete the Puzzle Without Guessing

Greater Than Sudoku rewards careful observation and logical thinking.

Try solving the easier squares first. Filling one correct number may reveal the answer to another.

Avoid guessing when several numbers seem possible.

You can also use hints when you become stuck, although doing so can add a time penalty.

The faster you complete the puzzle correctly, the better your result.

Greater Than Sudoku combines number placement with comparison signs, making each puzzle a challenging test of patience and problem-solving.
